Petitions

Petitions (both online and paper) are a very powerful tool in TV campaigns like this. It gives the executives a good represenation of the demand for what we're campaigning for.

Petitions are especially crucial in our campaign, because like most things in life, it comes down to money. Nickelodeon needs to be convinced that creating a brand new all '90s Nick channel is going to be profitable. The more people they see that are interested in such a channel, the better profits they can potentially make through advertising and commercials.

To us it's a no brainer. We are all already aware of the huge '90s Nick fan base that would watch this channel regulary. Plus we can't forget the younger generation that is yet to discover and fall in love with the same shows that we grew up with many years ago. An all '90s Nick channel has the potential to be more popular, get better ratings, and be more profitable then any other Nickelodeon channel including the main channel! We know this. Now we need to convince Nickelodeon.

We encourage you to sign Kendall Davis' online change.org petition. Created several years ago, this petition was the first step taken towards bringing awareness of and gaining support for an all '90s Nick channel. The petition has many signatures already, but will need many more to make an impression on Nickelodeon.

Paper petitions are especially impressive to executives, and essential in a campaign like this. Sure, it's quick and easy for anyone to sign an online petition, but when we can show the Nickelodeon executives a strong grassroots campaign, with many of our members going door to door or throughout their school getting actual physical signatures, this makes a much bigger impression. And let's not forget about the power of word of mouth. If you can make even a dozen people aware of our campaign and sign a petition, they can each tell a dozen people and so on. Your petition with a dozen signatures can quickly make hundreds, maybe thousands of people aware of our campaign.

For your convience we have created a pre-printed petition template in .doc and .pdf format. Simply print as many copies as you like, and take it throughout your neighborhood or school, pass it out to family and friends, and collect signatures.

Whenever you feel that you have gotten enough signatures, make three copies of your signed petition paper(s). Keep one copy for your records. Mail the second copy to the Nickelodeon/Viacom east coast address. Mail the third copy to the Nickelodeon/Viacom west coast address. Our pre-printed petition template has a summary of our campaign. But you may include an additional letter, drawings, etc., with your signed petition paper(s). Tip: Mail everything at the post office so you will be sure you have the correct postage for the weight. In addition, you can add tracking and delivery confirmation to make sure Nickelodeon got it!
